On this, the second Sunday of Advent, the choir invites you to look back on their work and allow the choral music created by both artists to take you on a meditative, deeply personal journey. Combining sacred themes with the vitality of folk songs and the words of Latvia’s greatest poets, the recording includes 15 compositions; notable among these are significant opuses like Pēlecis’ Credo and Plakidis’ well-known In Memoriam, which was performed in August of this year as the choir sang the composer to eternity at his funeral with great sadness.
The recording was made by Youth Choir Kamēr…, its artistic director Jānis Liepiņš and conductor Aivis Greters; the album’s visual design was created by artist Paulis Liepa. The recording was made in October of this year at St. John’s Church in Riga; Normunds Slava served as the sound engineer.
All who are interested are invited to attend the album release concert on December 10th at 19:30 in St. Mary Magdalene’s Church in Riga. The album will also be available in larger music shops and on digital platforms starting in December. Entry to the concert is by donation.
