The area of culture and professional ensembles is one of the priorities of Lattelecom’s support policy. The enthusiasm, the talent and the invested work of the youth choir Kamēr... demonstrate the immeasurable artistic potential of the choir and are a persuasive argument for Lattelecom’s support. Kamēr...’s potential for development under Māris Sirmais guidance as conductor was already acknowledged in 2005, when Lattelecom became a long-term cooperative partner, with the objective of actively participating in the formation of a professional, colourful and contemporary cultural life at both the national and international levels. As one of the leading service providers of electronic communications, Lattelecom is confident that many similarities can be found between a modern enterprise and an excellent choir. For an enterprise to be successful every employee must be a professional in his field, while for a listener to be delighted by music and the choir’s performance, every singer has to be a master of his voice. Kamēr... has these qualities and is an outstanding example of the mastery of its craft.
Due to this long-term cooperation, several outstanding and internationally renowned projects have been realizes with the support of Lattelecom; these projects are an artistic supplement and enrichment of cultural life. At the start of our cooperation with Kamēr... the project Latvia – the Land of Sun (brought into being in collaboration with the former state President Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga) was supported and within its framework the compact disc “Latvian choir music” was released. With Lattelecom’s support the choir represented Latvia in the World Choir Games in China, under the guidance of the conductor Māris Sirmais, and was awarded the championship title in three categories. A recording of the world renowned Georgian composers Giya Kancheli’s requiem Styx and Sir John Tavener’s The Myrrh Bearer was released and it has already obtained international recognition.
Further cooperation envisages the realisation of the choir’s particularly cherished project – World Sun Songs, which Lattelecom is honoured to support, because it unites Latvian professionals of the highest caliber – the choir “Kamēr...” and the conductor Māris Sirmais, the artist Ilmārs Blumbergs and the project’s patroness Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga – and it acknowledges Lattelecom’s vision of mutual understanding as a special art. Really – music is a nice way to understand each other. As an enterprise that plans to expand its activities internationally, we particularly support the project’s international scope and the possibility of assembling the most brilliant composers from 17 of the world’s countries. This creates a unique opportunity to develop Latvia’s image on an international level by employing Latvia’s musical talents.
