We are happy to announce a concert on 3rd March 2013 in St. Peter's church, Riga, where the youth choir Kamēr... will share the stage with the highly acclaimed and extravagant cellist Nicolas Altstaedt (Germany). He is not only a vivid musician, but also since 2011 the artistic director of the famous Lockenhaus festival of chamber music, succeeding his musically like-minded friend Gidon Kremer in this post.
In the concert in St. Peter's church Altstaedt will perform one of the most colourful cello and choir scores, Canticles of the Sun by Sofia Gubaidulina, where he will be joined by Rihards Zalupe and Edgars Saksons with percussions and Mārtiņš Zilberts with celesta. This very composition was the beginning of the artistic collaboration between the choir and Altstaedt as it was first performed together in Lockenhaus in 2010 and later published in a CD under ECM label. After the concert in Riga the collaboration and performance of Canticle will continue in one of the most important Easter festivals, Imago Dei in Krems, Austria.

On 1st December 2012 the latest recording of the Youth Choir Kamēr..., The Moon Songs, will see the light, again featuring the 10 pieces written by contemporary Latvian composers. The premiere of this cycle was held in the end of February in the Great Hall of the University of Latvia, and received high critical acclaim. Among the composers are both famous as well as yet to be discovered masters of sound - Raimonds Pauls, Līga Celma, Andris Sējāns, Juris Karlsons, Rihards Zaļupe, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Kaspars Zemītis, Raimonds Tiguls and Evija Skuķe. Each composer in their work has expressed a unique view and a special musical style while approaching the theme of the Moon, including romantic ballads, confessions, meditations, as well as tangos, rap and folk chants. The story ends with a tale of Shlopster-Klopster who even ate the Moon.
The creative team of the record includes the Youth Choir Kamēr... with its artistic director, conductor Jānis Liepiņš and soloists - the guitar virtuoso Kaspars Zemītis and the composer/master of the Swiss instrument hang, Raimonds Tiguls. Album's visuals, as always, have been created by the great artist Ilmārs Blumbergs.
The album was recorded in October in St. John's church, Riga, by sound director Normunds Slava.
To celebrate the opening of the CD, the choir invites you to the presentation concert of the album, scheduled for 1st December, 8 PM in Art museum Rīgas birža. The audience will have the possibility to see both the visible and invisible sides of the Moon. The tickets are available at the box offices of Biļešu paradīze or on www.bilesuparadize.lv.
